class descriptions

Yoga Nidrā is a relaxing, effortless guided meditation that you do lying down as comfortable as possible. Some sessions start with optional light physical technique as in tensing muscles and relaxing or massaging the face. Overall it is a non-physical practice accessible to everyone. It can lead you into deeper brain waves states similar to those of sleep while still maintaining awareness. It has a range of benefits from relieving stress to setting intentional subconscious directions for your life to healing physically and emotionally and in the least bit, some moments of relaxation. Each of the zoom sessions start with a short conversation around the theme of the meditation and there is room for questions or sharing. Class ranges from 30-45 minutes total, please allow for 45 minutes. If you sign up for class, you will receive a recording of the yoga nidra to access at anytime for your own use. If you cannot attend live, you can simply receive the recording by signing up.

I AM Yoga Therapy Group Class [Restorative]: Often we avoid areas of tension and resistance, be it physical, mental or emotional, which can cause it to build up and create misalignments or potentially illness. I AM Yoga Therapy (Body Psychology) uses the wall and prop assisted poses in conjunction with your breath and meditative facilitation to explore areas of stiffness, constriction and tightness. By moving into these areas with awareness for an extended period, you begin to gently release holdings from your body and mind. The class will end with a mini Yoga Nidra to integrate the experience. Join in comfortable clothing. If you have yoga props, feel free to have them handy, otherwise I will offer suggestions for "props" in your everyday household items. This is a very slow paced class similar to restorative.

Flow + Nidra or Flow + Relax: This class is a balance between action and stillness, will and surrender, doing and non-doing. We will start with a slower and "physically strengthening" flow while maintaining a focus on the breath, energy and wisdom of the body. There is room for stillness and movement within each posture and an encouraged inner attunement through transitions. It is a more active exploration of asana with inspiration from the I AM teachings. Each class will end with a Yoga Nidrā to directly experience that shift from doing to just being and the natural polarities of life.

Intro to Meditation in Motion [Meditative Movement]: You know that relaxed feeling you have when you leave a yoga class? Ever wish you could carry it with you in your everyday life? In Intro to Meditation in Motion, we will start class from that very relaxed state before transitioning into slow, breath focused movement... revealing how a meditative state can exist even amidst action, even amidst distractions. This will be a more traditional style yoga that incorporates much fewer poses than a typical class allowing you to move deeper into a connection with your own body's wisdom. There will be a short conversation at the beginning of class to share some of the tools of intro to meditation in motion. The class is appropriate for all levels and experience of yoga, as well as all capabilities of movement and mobility.
